What is Structured Family Caregiving?

Structured Family Caregiving is a state-funded program that allows family members to care for their own loved ones in their own home. This specific program requires that the family caregiver live in the same home with the loved one who is receiving the services. Family members including a daughter, son, aunt, niece, nephew, cousin or a family member that is related by marriage may be eligible to care for YOU and receive a stipend for the care they provide.

The primary objective of this program is to enable family members to provide the necessary care for their loved ones within their own home, thereby preventing the need for their loved ones to be placed in a nursing home or other facility outside the home.

Do YOU Qualify? (4 Primary Requirements):

• You need to reside with the family member you are caring for and be ready to offer round-the-clock care ie 24/7. AND………

• You must be a biological relative (e.g., daughter, grandchild, cousin, uncle) or related by marriage (e.g., daughter-in-law, son-in-law).

  Note: Compensation for Spouses of waiver participants and/or legal guardians also known as LRI’s may be very, very limited!!!

• The individual who wishes to receive care should currently be enrolled in the Indiana Medicaid Program. OR……………….

• The individual must be eligible for Medicaid as well as meet the Structured Family Caregiving Program eligibility requirements for the State of Indiana You must be willing to allow our team to help with starting the application process. Again, the family member of the individual wishing to receive services must live with their loved one that will be receiving care and be willing to provide the 24/7 care that's necessary.
